I love to be on the boat all weekends if poss, and cruising with mates is a particular favourite. A few mates have arranged to go to Brighton from OV w/e of 10/11 July, and invited us along, not keen on Brighton (no offence) but could be fun.

However I have acquired good tickets for GP at Silverstone for us that same weekend.

Now, knowing my past, and longed for return of, infatuation with all things GP until it became more boring than watching TCM's new antifoul dry, mainly due to those Red things, IMHO, what does the team think??

Boat or Bored?? Paul

if you want to watch a procession of cars, then park near the M25. If you want vehicle racing excitement go watch the British Superbikes.

Have they not got that Brighton Speed thing on that w/e. Drag racing along the front and some sort of show thing by the marina or have I got my weekends mixed up?

Re: Brilliant plan

wait for the weather. If rubbish, go to the gp. If reasonable or good, go on the boat, and make posts on the forum to attract short-notice buyers for the tickets....er I think you may have already started this operation :)

Tape the GP and go boating. Much quicker to watch when you can whizz through the ads. I'm doing it more and more frequently, playing with the remote alleviates the boredom.

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

As a few have said, the best option is to go too the boat and watch the race from there. Then donate the tickets too charity, Like me!!/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/wink.gif.

sour grapes

Not to worry alistairr, it will be rubbish as usual.

I was in the grandstand, and of course it is all very safe so there is no blood or death, and especially not any blood or death involving the first ten rows getting a 150mph f1 car twanging over the armco and crumping into another part of the crowd close by, which of course would make it all fab and exciting and is secretly the whole point of sitting in the crowd anyway.

They zoom off and cos you can't see very much, they show the other corners on big tv screen. Swmbo's sometimes can't keep up with this, so you have to explain that he's first, he's second, he's 17th, next is 18th, next 3rd and haven't you been watching?

Soon, it's all over and then there the prie cermony, which is over there a bit, and all in full view but only as big as if watching it happen on the other side of the M1 so you need binoculars.

I am a bit bemused as to why it's running - if even the owner of F1 says that silverstone is rubbish? don't disagree, just puzzled.

Re: sour grapes

We quite often go and see the Touring cars, and as you say, you do need to keep Swmbo up to date with commentary.
But taking Swmbo too the GP would be wasted!! You'd be better leaving her at home the next time, and take ME. You'd enjoy it all the more./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

We must be quite close, haven't got seat numbers here but may see you, still undecided but my lads are very seriously looking over some Jenson Button Pit shirts so the decision may have been made in my absence. Still Bala Lake this weekend with my Brother and his Laser Topper, might just make up for it. Mind you me (those that know me will understand) in a Laser Topper might make for an interesting photo??
