I have a small collection of vinyl LPs which I'd like to access on my boat. I have a ION deck, laptop and mini hifi system at home. I'm assuming that transferring an LP one side at a time would be straightforward using proprietary software but I'd like separate access to each track. Is there any software (preferably free) that would do this?

Any software such as :

FREE Video Converter by Freemake - Convert to MP4 MP3 - Download software

Yes its primarily a Video Conversion program - but it covers Audio / Video in literally all formats ...... it lets you decide splits / additions / etc.

So transfer your Vinyl to MP3 or whatever you need ... then load up and split in this ..

Or you can use a Video editor such as Windows Movie Maker ... you can then split the audio as you wish .. save etc.

There really is no quick way - its all real time stuff ...

Are the albums available on Spotify? If so, that would be the way I’d go.

I spent days of my life 10 years or so ago digitising my CD collection - they never get used and I use Spotify for 90% of my music listening.

That said I am slowly buying my old CD’s back as vinyl for list

I have a number of old decks from when a kid and later .. but they no longer work well. I bought a deck that can digitise records to USB ... but it lacks 'pitch control' so speed is off on some records.

Then I bought a 'suitcase deck' - but gave that to a friend as present .....

Last year finally Lidl appeared in our town and of course 'new shop' - we all had to go look see if anything worthwhile .....

There on special offer .... Record Deck with Pitch Control (Strobe) .... all it needed was to connect to a music system as AUX ..... it doesn't digitise - but as Vinyl are making a comeback - my son is lead guitar for a band in Portsmouth and they already put to vinyl ...- I don't miss the MP3 function. Honest ... at 134 euros - I could not believe how good it is ..... everyone who visits remarks on how good it is.

Lets be honest - online has all the MP3 versions anyone could ever want ... yes I know - Copyright and all that .........
So on my boat - I have a multi standard radio / player .... I just make up flash drive sticks of music and use that ...

Surely you just need to gimbal your gramophone and take the records with you?

As long as you have a signal for the smartphone or pay silly cash for their pro product. Saying that it might be worth paying the silly cash not to hear the constipation advert, I do worry about the democratic that Spotify thinks I'm in!

You can easily split up the file from each side in seperate tracks with Home
