Anyone had any experience of the above? It would seem to me to offer quite a lot of fun for planning/dreaming about a North Atlantic Circuit...?

Yep. Its great fun and very usefull for armchair planning !
I'm using it to look at various routes for the OSTAR and routes for moving the yacht Neiwpoort to Barcelona - you can put in your boats performance and it tells you - based on historic pilot data - how long a route will take, what the average wind strength will be, average speed etc. It will also optimise a route for you, which is very interesting. It's sort of weather routing but based on historical data.
No I have to confess that 1) my company sells it (but Ok we sell LOTS of stuff so thats not so rare and we don't sell to the general public) and 2)They sponsored me with a copy when I asked them... but I only asked them because it's such an interesting piece of kit. With the $ the way it is, its now down around 70 quid.
