Seeking advice for my diesel leak problem so thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Engine is a Perkins 6-354 with CAV injector pump. Diesel is leaking from the fuel cut off, engine stop spindle/stud. The spindle /stud is a fixed part into the governor housing and operates on a quarter turn on/off basis. There is too much "play" with the stud inasmuch as if I push with my finger on the stud I can stop the leak. Presumably there is a seal inside the governor housing on the other side of the stud which may have failed (dried up and shrunk?) or is there the possibility that a different seal that has failed as I don't know if fuel should be sloshing around side inside the governor housing in the first place.

If its a seal problem would it need a specialist CAV repair place or could any auto/tractor place working with injectors handle it?

Maybe time to take the pump to an injection specialist for a service and calibration. I wonder if this is a case of biofuel content attacking old seals?

If I remember correctly its just an O ring

Thanks for your kind responses, it's mechanical probably Lucas circa 1979. Appreciate the links as well and never having taken one apart is there anything that I especially need be careful of (small springs etc) when dismantling?

Thanks to all, talked to Andy at Poole Diesel who was very helpful and, as suggested previously it's an internal seal failure caused by bio-diesel

I hope other people with similar fuel pumps have read this thread and so are forewarned. Thanks for coming back to us on this which is going to become an increasing problem. I presume Andy can supply suitable seals??
