Seeking advice for my diesel leak problem so thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Engine is a Perkins 6-354 with CAV injector pump. Diesel is leaking from the fuel cut off, engine stop spindle/stud. The spindle /stud is a fixed part into the governor housing and operates on a quarter turn on/off basis. There is too much "play" with the stud inasmuch as if I push with my finger on the stud I can stop the leak. Presumably there is a seal inside the governor housing on the other side of the stud which may have failed (dried up and shrunk?) or is there the possibility that a different seal that has failed as I don't know if fuel should be sloshing around side inside the governor housing in the first place.
If its a seal problem would it need a specialist CAV repair place or could any auto/tractor place working with injectors handle it?
