When installing a diesel heater such as an eberspacher, does the exhaust outlet have to be in any particular position.....ie out the top, bottom, sides???????
Cos I'm having some trouble with the one I put in about a year ago and I just wondered if thats causing it.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear there did I. We're talking the outlet on the heater itself. It has run OK for about 8 months or so but now it goes out for no apparent reason. Now this could be straight away or 5 hours later which makes no sense. Surely if there was something wrong with the heater it would go out straight away all the time??? The only thing that I have done is to install double battery banks and a split charge diode. It was after this that it started doing it but I can't see any reason why this would cause it.

The exhaust outlet on the Eb unit is at the bottom. You can get on-line pdf manuals for them, lots of detail including exploded drawings and wiring diagrams. Let me know if this would help. I can dig out the url or you can google for it

Eberspachers are very sensitive to voltage, and adding a split charge diode will cause a drop of almost 1V at the batteries. You can buy compensated units with no voltage drops (Sterling Power etc) if necessary.
