Repair eberspacher??
My eberspacher has stopped working. No indication as to why its stopped. It is not going through any of its sequence. Not the fuse though.I am wondering if its worth repairing or just slip in a clone.Any suggestions.Thanks. in advance

Clone every time. Eber are taking the p**s with the price of their spare parts. I've stripped some Chinese clones and some Ebers and the engineering is every bit as good as the real thing.

The mechanicals are ok, the electrics are only just there. Controller, board, loom, fuse holders are absolute minimum quality.

My Eber is working fine, but the controller is decidedly temperamental. OK, the heater is at least 15 years old, and the particular model isn't made any longer. I can source a new controller, but at the same price as TWO complete heater clones from China.
What do you think I'm going to do?

Our D5 conked out, my pants were pulled down and taken for £500 to have it repaired.

Thankfully it hasn't missed a beat since but if it does, it will be replaced by a Chinaspacher using the original exhaust, ducting etc.

Not so sure about that. Although my Chinese one is working OK, there's a very big difference in weight, suggesting the casting is far thinner than Eber. At £75 I have a second one as spare, just in case :)

It's pointless asking a company to service or repair them..they are only interested in replacement. I couldn't install a cheap as chips Chinese one because I'm distant from the boat. So a planar was put in and ended up costing £1500. Chinese and diy any day...

I did replace the ECU on my Eberspacher in 2109. The ECU more than a new Chinese heater at the time but it was an easy fit in that there was no need to disturb the electric loom or the controller. It's been fine ever since.
