Diesel Contamination Hamble area History ??

Thank you Paul - what I asked was just a question that required a direct answers.
People who are clueless, sad or just bored just jumped in which caused the thread to totally drift and potentially stopped / put off any folk who may have knew of any contamination from answering.
A bit of humour is generally welcome on a forum (unless the thread is about a fatal accident or similar - which this clearly was not).
Insults to forum members much less so.

And on any forum after the initial responses have come in and the subject largely answered insofar as likely to happen, there is always going to be a bit of thread drift. This is in fact helpful to the OP, as keeps the thread active and visible so may prompt further useful input. You are posting on a public forum, not commissioning and paying for private professional advice.

PS. Looks like you have sensibly reflected a bit and edited the worst of your quote and references to “ign….. mor…..” seen earlier - you might want to do likewise with your post #32 also as this does not help your case. Do you not think your tone in #40 is also rather confrontational for a forum?

Post #33 provided some useful background compared with the OP and their subsequent posts which seemed rather cryptic to me and was likely the catalyst for the thread drifting.

My boat’s engine is simple by many MOBOs standards but I would have thought after a decade any damage would have manifested itself.

So what makes You decide / give the right on somebody else's forum to make a thread drift ???

It's posts that turn this way that made be lurk for over a year rather than reply to help people , the demise of a group that made a massive and positive input to the forum also disappeared, JFM is back but that's about it . The advent of Facebook and its many Volvo penta pages and the likes of Solent boating make it far easier to post pictures , video and chat over this site , hence it is not so popular nowadays.
I thought this particular forum was to help people - there is the Lounge area for any other business.

If someone replies with non relevant answers or replies just to spout crap then that's just ignorant

It doesn't help my case when people cause the thread to drift off.

if you looked at my original post #1 I only asked if anyone knew of Fuel Contamination in a particular area - What's cryptic about that ?
I didn't want to go into the in's and out's of why I wanted to know as I felt as the OP - it didn't require it.

It is a public forum - 99% of threads drift to a greater or lesser degree. What harm does that do.
Because you were so cryptic that perhaps caused more humorous forms of thread drift.
PS. It is amusingly ironic that the OP has in fact created thread drift by moving off topic of diesel fuel to complain about other posters :-)

How was I being cryptic ??? - if you cannot understand a question then ask
you and your fellow chums caused it to drift#

Would you care to answer post no #44

Hi - This is more for a if anyone can recall if there was a water or any other contamination from any of the Marina Fuel Stations on the River Hamble around 2015 / 2016 time ?
This is not meant for any type of Witch Hunt etc etc - I only want to know a history of a boat Previously affected by Diesel Bug.

I thought you were being cryptic and said as much in post #20. It seems others agree.

Why not post the bigger picture in your original question for forumites to help with? Eg

I'm thinking of buying a boat currently moored on the Hamble which has had its tanks professionally cleaned by a reputable company but I'm concerned about potential issues due to contaminated fuel. Does anyone know if there were any issues with contaminated fuel supplies on the Hamble 10 years ago.

Now, I assume the boat with multiple tanks and high performance engines might like to slurp the juice and travel at a rate of knots so wouldn't it be entirely feasible that the boat took on fuel at any number of places a decade ago? I've bought, sold and owned several classic cars (and other cars that aren't classics but were more than 10 years old). Nothing that happened 10 years ago is of any interest to me as I only buy on present condition and surely that would apply to a boat of similar age?

An oil analysis and/or boroscope inspection might tell you more about the engines current state than posting what I still think is a totally random question on a forum. I'm curious how any reply might help your decision making process, eg "oh yes, MDL had a tanker load of water laden fuel delivered on April 1st 2015 and they had to syphon the lot back out of their holding tanks".

How would you know if any of that had ended up in the boat in question? Should/would it make any difference?

Jon whilst I love to take the piss it is who I am , but most people still can’t see the point of your post unless the boat has not moved for ten years, FFS . OK say you don’t buy this boat , then you ask the morons about your next boat and it’s 23 years old, then ask should the plastic covers still be on the cushions and some tweet as used the heads. We all need you explain what you was looking for. Yes we all love to hear from Paul , peeps like him have helped us all , but get real.

Wow I just remembered we past through the Solent on the way to the IOW ten years ago , could this mean .
