At last !

Lovely sailing weekend .

Nice wind, nice people and our lovely East Coast.

I think my highlight was Saturday around 11am near the Cork Sands.

A Volvo 70 was put into the water by Felixstowe Port, the container side. It is shortly off to Alicante for the RTW. I believe Camper, a NZ outfit.

What a beast ! It messed about a bit putting the main up and then a jib. The wind was 3 to 4 and I have never seen a sailing boat shift like that.

Let's hope we can get some decent sailing in September.

yes, ta :-)

We (nicenicey, nicenicey senior and nicenicey junior) had a nice sail up the Deben this morning after having a look at the changes in the Deben entrance since last we ventured that way (about 5yrs ago) and nearly braved the open sea ...

We sailed yesterday from Woodbridge over Deben Bar, down the Orwell to Royal Harwich YC (good food!!) then back to Woodbridge today.
First time I've sailed over the bar rather than starting the engine and motoring.
Sailed most of the way from RHYC and up the Deben to Waldringfield when the rain started and the wind stopped - otherwise excellent weather and wind today (some motoring yesterday)

Pleased you had a good sail. You need to use a photobucket account (as I do) or similar to post photos to the forum.

thanks Paul, I was using the wrong link (to an album rather than a picture) to pictures in my profile. I've used albums on forums before and prefer to keep things all in one forum if I can, although I might have to investigate a photo bucket account as they're pretty popular.

we probably passed each other as I was motoring back from Woodbridge to Waldringfield as the rain started.

Excellent Weekend

Sailed from Maylandsea to Burnham and back again. First time I have ever sailed South from the Blackwater, and the furthest I have been out to sea in my own boat. Weather was good, too, right up to the rain squall at about 1400 on Sunday.

Having struggled home from abroad in August, Saturday's trip up the Wallet, just making it in one tack from Walton Pier to the Colne was a welcome return to sailing as I'm sure we all like it to be, sunny and warm with a fair wind. Going back yesterday was merely OK, with enough wind to buck the tide.

Really super, thanks!

A lovely sail from the Crouch to Pyefleet, opposite Brightlingsea, mostly with the Drifter/Code zero up, anchoring under sail, then a trip up Pyefleet in the inflatable canoe on Saturday. Then yesterday, a gentle sail back until we were past Swallowtail, when the wind rose and we had a real blast into the Crouch, almost breaking the speed limit through Burnham, and arriving home just before the rain. The more we sail Alshira, the more we enjoy her! (We did our 1300th mile on her on Saturday)

I don't know what you sail, but we got up to 31kn true off Clacton and the strong wind lasted a couple of hours, so it could have been quite bumpy.
