Sorry for drift.
The lack of independent chandleries was why I gave up on boat shows 3 years ago.
The last 3 LIBS I went to had only 3 or 4 Chandlers displaying, although the floor space was impressive the products on view were samey the salesmen knowledge was poor but for me what was lacking was any form of competition.
Had a few things in mind to get at the show but deals were not to my liking and some were worse than prices checked online on the day I went shopping so I held off.
That haviong been said the deal I was quoted on sails was magic.
I saved about £45 on a set of Tough Charts 'cos my mate bought them for me as a Thank You for the odd sailing trip.
Very Pleased ! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I went with a shopping list, mostly of stuff that is more convenient to buy and carry, rather than posting it. Autoprop anodes were priced OK, as was some rope. The folding buckets were cute, although of negligible real use, but we bought one anyway.
Biggest rip-off was at Jimmy Green, not for the first time. Two reels of whipping thread cost a massive £5.40 each, should have gone elsewhere but didn't think of it at the moment.
Two windscoops at the Kemp stand were very good value, about half of most catalogue prices.
Information was free and very welcome. Having been forced to dispose of all my Garmin charts and plotter once before when G-charts became obsolete I was concerned to read that original Bluecharts are going the same way. However, I was assured that my plotter software can easily be upgraded, my existing charts will still run on it and G2 will also.
The big catalogues were also free and the ones on board all needed to be updated. So thank-you TCS, Vetus, Plastimo.
I went last Thursday and got some great deals i was quoted here in Ireland 600 Euro to get some rigging replaced i got it at the boat show all in including to Ireland at 210 Euro so the show was worthwhile for me
No huge bargains, but I bought some cheap Lewmar blocks, and a 10 watt solar panel at a good price. I did get one very useful piece of kit that I have never seen on sale in Turkey, and that is a set of Selma fids to splice braid on braid. Already tried out, and surprisingly easy to make a neat splice.
Most useful thing was finding out that I can get replacement blinds to fit the roller blinds in my boat, without having to buy the whole thing. All I need to do now is find the serial numbers on the old blinds.

Got a set of 5 too. £20 with a load of line. 'til now I've mad my own when needed from copper pipe. The selma ones are a lot easier to use. Still can't splice old line though - I can never get the core out. Any tips?
i got a good deal on an Gill Atlantic suite should of been over £500 and got it for £320 and free sunglasses worth £35 i got it from the only small chandler is there can't remember its name. no one else and the show came any where near him on price. i noticed they all seemed to have some one from one of the manufactures on their stalls. the only problem with that is they only want to sell you one product. still not sure if i picked the right one lol.
English Braids were very sharp on ropes of all types.
Crusader sails are pretty competitive - at least £300 sharp on near competitors - get's my dosh.
Jimmy Green is always good for a laugh - a triumph of presentation over substance: "50% off the prices in this container etc etc." Like Sainsburys fruit and veg - start with twice the real market price and show a whacking discount, arriving at, guess what, normal pricing...!
The best we saw was the sale box on a shoe stand. £20 per pair and £10 for a second pair. I bought a pair of deck shoes and the wife bought a smart pair of boots for the £10.
Encouraged by this I spotted smart shoreside shoes (uppers like deck shoes but soles with chunky grips). I tried on the right shoe, it fitted as well as Cinderella's slipper, but looking for the left one I could only find another right shoe, I sent shoes scattering in all directions in the search but to no avail!
got some musto hpx boots for £20 less than I could find them on line and they threw in 2 pairs of £10 musto socks free so not bad.
My Father in law went to buy deck shoes at £54 on the quayside stand. £15! more than most chandlers were selling them on line. Got a real scowl when I waved the interweb on my iphone at her. She did knock a tenner off to be fair. Most stuff seemed to be same price as online.
No real bargains but did get some red Guy Cotton totally waterproof non breathable trousers that match my red breathable jacket. Couldn't find them in Brest let alone UK chandlers on or off line but got them at the London Show. So now my bum won't get wet when I'm sitting in water but the bad news is that they have stopped making them. When they've all gone non breathable trousers will be yellow plastic only.
