Correct.... but let's not forget that this does not only apply to power boats ,,, nor turbo charged engines .... most sailboats have inadequate power to fight a UK tidal stream and strong headwind whilst managing a reasonable passage speed... which together with inaccurate propping often leads to a short & hard runs, often with "less than minimal maintenance" (oil change etc..... why change oil??? ... I hardly use the engine...).... The number of replaced, "worn out" diesel engines in saiboats of less than 20 years of age (below 1000 hrs) that I hear of, is a mystery to me ...
