I did post this in the motor boat forum but things are getting desperate now, so posting here too... Unless I can sort this, my season is up the creak:-(

I need a set of fuel injector pipes for a Perkins 4.108 (Hydraulic Governor Pump).

I've tried every company I can find on the internet, plus several others from suggestions and recommendations. I've even called a few companies in the USA!

Is it even worth attempting a repair to corroded pipes? Not sure what the pressure is, but I doubt there's a 'safe' fix.
 
Have you not followed up the suggestion to find a local hydraulics or diesel specialist who will make you new pipes to your pattern? AFAIK it is not difficult if they have the right gear.
 
I tried to get HP Fuel pipes made up in cupronickel for my 1GM10, last year. I approached a number of Diesel specialists. None would accept the job, even to remake them in steel. I had the originals blasted and tested , before painting with Hamerite. It's not the best solution but the only one I could think of at the time, other than buying directly from Yanmar. It may explain how they can get away with those prices... I don't know where you'd get "new" pipes for the Perkins, but it was re-badged by Volvo so that my be a route to follow. Don't be tempted to use flexible hydraulic pipes. They may take the pressure but they are elastic and will adversely effect the fuelling.
 
If I was as desperate as you sound, I would cut the ends off, if they are still good, and silver solder or braze diesel pipe from a scrapyard, using turned and bored sleeves to cover the joins. Carefull positioning before soldering would be essential-it is hard to re-shape these diesel HP pipes

Your friendly local diesel specialist can then block the ends and pressurise to test for leaks.

Brazed/silver soldered joins were used in the early days of diesel injection equipment-the nipples were joined to the pipe in this manner-before hydraulic forming tools were available.

When I attended the Wandswoth Technical College two fellow students were Apprentices at London Transport and had to make up injector pipes in this way for buses as part of their training.

I just rang Helston Diesel my local engineers, they say they can make them no problem but need the originals for a pattern. 01326 561977. I'm interested because I'm looking at a boat with that engine.

I have a perking 4 107 or 8 spripped in my Garage that I don't need if you don't come right from a UK supplier let me know and I can post the ones I have to you.

One reason its not straight forward, is that the boat is in France, so I can't give anyone a pattern. I made the mistake of assuming there'd be no problem picking up a set over the winter! Time has now run out and I'm headed out there in 2 weeks and was really hoping to take a set out to fit myself. Finding a French engineer to make a set is obviously 100 times times harder, especially with very limited language.

Don't know what exactly you are searching but most of the injection specialist shops that do injectors and injection pumps can and do make replacement pipes. A quick search has identified S&S in Southampton who advertise custom made pattern injector pipes. Not rocket science, if you take the originals they will even bend them to shape. Had many manufactured over the years by City Auto Diesel.

he already said, they are abroad he is here, my local eng shop could make them if they had the originals.
