Have you tried Caterpillar for parts?

I'd be surprised if you couldn't get parts for a 4 108.

I've been dealing with a crowd in Perth West Australia "Alllights" who stock Perkins parts.

Can't say i've tried any Australian stockists but I'll try them...

This is actually turning into an educational exercise...

Almost every other part for the trusty 4.108 is still available from most sources. From nuts, bolts, shims and shells to pumps, cranks, injectors and even engine cases. Its just these pipes that are not!

Incidentally I have installed a Perkins 4 108 engine in a yacht I am building. I was trying to get parts for the cooling system but after a huge search on the internet and Perkins suppliers I was told I wouldn't be able to buy them because Perkins never supplied a marine engine. They used to supply bare engines to about 6 jobbers who marinised them to their own specification. In desperation I asked if I could go out the back and talk to a mechanic. He was an older chap, very knowledgeable and helpful but suggested I go to an automotive supplier and look at their hoses and find one with the right diameter and right bends and cut off and toss away what I didn't want. If you do a duckduckgo (image) search on "Perkins 4 108 marine engine" you will see a number of different types of marinised engines.

yes, I was aware Perkins do didn't do any marinisation. The best people I ever dealt with over the years for marinisation parts have been Lancing Marine. A little expensive, but there are guys there with many decades of knowledge.
It's a very old engine now for a new build. Be sure to carry plenty of spares;-)

The engine has done little work. But there's still plenty of spares particularly out in the Pacific where they are found in cane harvesters tractors etc.

I was about to do a search and came across this
https://pricing.parts/spare/perkins

Worth checking out?

Have you tried calling Lancing Marine? Even if they don't stock your part, I bet they'll know the solution to your problem.

As always guys, a MASSIVE thank you and much gratitude to ALL who responded to my plea here, ESPECIALLY to 'fisherman' as Dave Dean has come up trumps with a set of pipes!!!

This means I can take them out to France and fit them;-)

I love this forum, so thanks to PBO also!

Good job! Wonder what became of Dozy, beaky Mick and Titch....

Wow Clive what an amazing link. Who on earth is hosting that site?
I have only just come across the link so I have yet to find out who is hosting it. BUT it is not just for Perkins. If you delete the word "perkins" from the URL you have the option of searching on any motor.

My new washing machine has packed up so if I get that going quickly I will do some research on who is hosting it

I've now looked at it again. I'd say it is definitely US based because the prices appear to be in $US (USD) with the $A (AUD) equivalent. It is a website for a whole lot of suppliers as they give a range of prices and when you make a request for quote they then send it to possible suppliers
