Hello forum
We are in Ay eufemia on Kefalonia, making our way to Zakynthos to collect a grandson, and recce-ing places to go with him as we go. But there aren't that many places ...
Poros, Heikel warns about depths - we draw 1.9, and apparently no anchoring there now either.
Anchorage in Ormos Kateleios very exposed?
The grandson trip wasn't planned with any knowledge of the area and is Zak Town to Argostoli - not ideal it now seems so any suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Poros if fine we need 2 mts for our rudder , there is a shallow part on the quay but if you go on to the quay nearer to the entrance or oppsit it you be ok , if you touch it soft mud

Were were in Poros at the end of last season and had no problems at all, we draw 2m. Lots of 45ft length yachts came in after us and moored all over the port, nobody seemed to have a problem. There was (free) water on the quay when we were there too.

I've anchored in Ketelious - just east of the settlement and the rocks - in a southwesterly 5/6, and found good shelter. Depth to choice - it shallows gradually. I've since made it a regular stopping point between West Kefalonia and Zakinthos. There are a baker and mini market about 1K up the road inland. Take the left fork at the junction.

Doing a similar jaunt with my bro, we did Zak Town to Keteleios, to Argostoli, to St Nikolaos, and back to Zak. There are nice beaches on the south of the promontory that forms thevGulf of Argostoli. Take a boat trip from St Nik to see the Blue caves.

The little harbour at the end of the runway on kefalonia is handy ,we `ve used it overnight to pick up crew, (5 mins from the airport) good depth, but a lot of local boats . We had to speak with a local fisherman last time who identified unused lazy lines - no issues. but you can go alongside at the end of the quay

May be worth a word with Grafozz of this parish, he has helped out one or two visiting yachts from the forum.

Maybe slightly off topic but may assist in the future. I was recently at Kefalonia with crew who were flying home from Argostoli airport. We managed to book a daily transfer from Fiskardo direct to the airport for the princely sum of 15 euros per person. I thought this was very reasonable given the savings in diesel and food etc, having to make the 70 odd mile journey each way by boat. Booking was made the day prior in person at the travel office above the bakery at the south end of the Quay. English staff all went like clockwork. Just a satisfied customer with no connections to the company or staff.

Wow thank you Besonders. That could make a huge difference to us, and is something I would never have thought of. The only thing is we can't afford to go as far as Fiscardo and then find out that for some reason it's not possible. You don't have the name of the travel company or any contact details do you?

I had a friendly reply but no cigar ...
They said that Ionian Island Holidays have a transfer on Saturdays and that you must have arranged it with one of their reps who share Pamas' office. Now we're thinking of a two day car hire solution but Pamas can't fix that either as they only reserve full weeks, but the die is cast, we're happily on our way north and will just have to find a way of getting to the airport from Fiskardo ...

Just to tie this one up - we are doing it with taxis. 75 euros per trip. A bit eye watering but we have had a much better time coming to Fiscardo than we would have, slogging round to Argostoli. Anchored line ashore on the north side and it's an idyllic spot to await the skipper's return. Just praying for good neighbours ...
So thanks again for all the helpful replies.

Why are people mooring in places such as Poros? Concrete, asphalt, heat allaround....
Isn't sailing/cruising about dropping an anchor in crystal clear water bays?
But not just Poros also Preveza, stinky Lefkada...
And I am not talking about the times when you must go to take water etc. No! People are "sitting" in such hot, smelly places for days!
