Well I found something interesting ....

Just got back from boat and have following to report.

Measured depth by stick : 1.32m ..... E/S shows 1.1m

So I went into calibration mode and tried to get reading same .. not possible. I can offset to read 0.2m as under keel, but it will not offset to add to create depth of water. Calibration offset range is +0 to -5m .... so not designed to show true total depth.

Model is Echopilot Duo.

????? So that means you would have to reset offset as your draft changes ... only if you have depth below keel is true figure unchanged.
But in all you would have different offset / error to account for.

No. I have the offset set so that the depth sounder displays depth of water, i.e. seabed to surface. Then I know that centreboard down I need 1.5m, board up/rudder down I need 1m, board & rudder up/engine down I need 60cm, everything up I need 40cm.

> only if you have depth below keel is true figure unchanged.

Not sure what you mean.
