Just had a call from my number 1 child, Leigh - she was sitting on a Catamaran sailing aroun Barbados - bitch !!!

She took this opportunity to tell me about her leg being in plaster from toes to knee. Apparently, first day there she got pissed and jumped in the pool - only it was the shallow end. She walked around on a broken foot for 2 days before going to the hospital.

Being in plaster meant she was carried onto the Cat by two hunky deck hands - that's my girl !!

She obviously takes after her father!

I wouldn't worry too much, I think I know who on here has to keep looking in the rear view mirror /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

P.S. I have seen the hospital In Barbados and it does seem quite civilised /forums/images/icons/wink.gif so not much to worry about I hope.

I think she's enjoying it - sort of. Bonus was she got to be carried onto the Cat by two hunky deckhands. Downside was she can't ride on the netting because she can't get her plaster wet. So she's on the aft deck - quaffing !

Re: Taking after father

It wasn't brittle bones that caused it - it was being drunk and silly, two of her father's traits

..... and stop trying to wind me up John. Didn't you read my earlier post? I'm a reformed woman - quiet, sensible, demure and innocent !

Perhaps her leg is so bad she will be unable to fly home, or at least have some decent leg room? Pissed in Barbados......... Must admit I like the Lime Malibu they do out there.

Lime Malibu

My only sailing experience in Barbados was in the 1980's on board the "Jolly Roger", a fake raggie pirate ship that motorsailed up and down the coast with large numbers of tourists on board. The day trip price was all-in and drinks were free, so Club 18-30ish scenes of hasty drinking and debauchery ensued.

The booze was rum punch and it took no prisoners. To be honest, I can't remember much about the day but according to Mrs jhr, and the photos, I enjoyed myself............

As a completely irrelevant aside, we were staying with friends who were on an overseas posting from a UK govt. organisation. We were amused to hear that Barbados is a "hardship" posting and UK civil servants get extra allowances for being there. Not quite as ludicrous as it sounds because day-to-day living costs are vvv expensive and the allowance was to compensate for this, but "hardship" was p'raps an unfortunate word to use in the circs!

Re: blimmin \'ell

i remember doin that
altho all i rememeber is rum punch and some sort of rope swing into the sea.

did get to go on the malcolm miller when that pulled in as i met the 1st mate in a bar who remembered me.
also got on a RN supply ship. Why is that come the winter months the navy takes such an interest in the carribean's security???

happened to mrs s2b once she only burned leg on a scooter
but had to spend a week on the boat but not in the water.

Well, Pauline it could have been much worse; our son's college friend did a similar thing whilst drunk, but dived in and is now paralysed from the waist down.
