Demand for marina and mooring berths soars in UK

That's true Jac - I'm one of those delayed launches (couldn't finish some of my winter work in the rain). Frustrating as there have been some lovely days I was desperate to be out even just for a simple day trip, but those were mostly days I couldn't get to the yard either.

Curious to hear that swinging moorings are so much less in demand in some places. I'm very happy with mine.

I was a delayed launch, but mostly due to unforeseen issues. We launched today and Deacons only had a couple of berths available for us to stay until the weekend. Haslar have been checking progress too so presumably they're busy on the bank holidays, or maybe just very competent with their checks. Probably a bit of both.

Things tend to get awkward in the less well organised chain / franchised eateries when the bill arrives.
There will always be the couple who have only had half a lettuce leaf and small glass of the gratis jug of tap water and they insist on only paying to the last farthing (usually on some cash back credit card after presenting some discount vouchers the resturant has never heard of ) .
Why they insist on going out with us "Blimey is that bottle empty already .... lets get a second immediatly is of course a mystery :)
From experience the resulting fall out can last for ever !
Never had that problem. This is what we do - the group agrees to pay for their own meals/drinks and the restaurant informed before we order, they are always more than happy to oblige, why would they turn down £200 - £400 worth of turnover? We have eaten from Falmouth east to Southampton and north to Scotland like this and never had a problem.

A restaurant that Mrs Sandy and I regularly eat at has a standing joke with us about paying on one card. ;)
