Delivery UK to Greece

How cheap are you trying to get? It's at least 1,500 miles as the crow flies - much more by road - four or five hundred quid each way in fuel? Three days each way? Even with a single driver on a pretty low wage you have to be looking at another grand. OK - they may be able to get a customer for the return journey, but I wouldn't have thought that a thousand was unreasonable if they are making a dedicated trip just for you - is it?

I Have goods to bring from the UK to Greece and am trying to find out the best and economical way of doing this.I have contacted some transport companies but their quotes were outrageous.
Any advise welcome.

Alain

Got a rough volume and weight?

To help you calculate your costs if you drive down.

Van across the channel £100
1100 miles at say 30 mpg ( fair sized load! ) = about £220 in fuel
Venice ferry cost £350
Tolls and tax vignettes depend on route taken but from £20 to £100 total

That ignores the cost of meals and an hotel for 1 night. It takes 48 hours of travelling to get to igounomitsa. Minimum.

It also ignores the overheads of van ownership, servicing, tax and insurance

Remember you have to drive back too!

I used mondial based in enfield to take half a cubic metre to corfu. Cost about 150 quid i think. I think they have other greek destinations. It was a palletised load and i think it would have been same price for the full metre. They weren't concerned about weight.

Hi Alain,

We do send yacht spares and boat equipment to Greece weekly from the UK as part of the day job...................... almost every area covered. I may be able to help you with shipping at a sensible price. PM me with some details and I'll see if I can help.

Cheers Jackie

Hi Vyv,
Great to hear from you hope you are both well. We are going to Change our windlass, chain, new exhaust hose 5 metres long and our spare sails and would like to bring them over to Greece so l am looking at different options to transport these to Greece.
May think about driving to Greece?

Hope to see you sometime in the water next sailing season.

Best regards
Alain
