Delivery Skipper Recommendations and Prices?

Not an interrogation hehe.

You gave me a price minus skipper's and crews expenses, including their travel expenses. If that was left open, and I was skipper or crew, I'd be flying business class everywhere, and eating out in fancy restaurants every night :)

Well, not really, but just wondered how we can roughly estimate what the expenses might be.

I'm happy for you to discuss numbers publicly on here if you are.

TY!

Hi TY,

Interrogate if you wish!

The price I gave excludes crew travel. Other expenses (food, charts etc..) are included in the price.

I believe it is always best for the client for us to exclude crew travel for the simple reason that it can vary significantly. If we were to offer an inclusive price then we would have to over estimate the costs to ensure we don't lose money from the job... Instead we offer a promise that we always use budget travel and are considerate of costs at all times.

I have several excellent Skippers based in various places around the UK (and beyond). I always try to appoint the most geographically suitable Skippers and crew (the more notice we get the better!). I have someone who is currently available based near to Dartmouth, so travel costs would be relatively low. You are essentially looking at 3 people travelling to Dartmouth (approximately £60), then 3 flights back from Dublin to Bristol (booked at short notice) approximately £50 to £100 each, then onward travel (approximately £80). So, I would guess a total travel budget of around £300 - £400 for a delivery of this type.

Have a great weekend!

Pete

From a crews perspective I'd recommend halcyon. I have now crewed on several deliveries with them and with a few others. If I had a yacht that needed moving I would definitely use them.

I suggest you contact atol of this forum by PM. I know him to be very responsible and careful, also any crew he engages is hand picked. It all depends on whether he is busy or free.

Hi. Thanks for the help with this. Actually ended up doing the trip myself with my Dad as a weather window presented itself and we thought we'd give it a go. All went very smoothly and we made the journey from Dartmouth to Dublin, approx 300nm, in just 54 hours. Some motor-sailing, but mostly sailing. Took a little video footage en-route...
