This Notice supersedes LNTM 5 of 11/06/2014.
Please note that due to delays the days and times of the River Closure have changed.
Please be aware that due to the laying of a new 132kV submarine cable across the Solent between Lepe and Thorness Bay the Beaulieu River will be closed to all vessels for periods of time on the 15th, 16th and 17th of June.
The River will be totally closed as follows:
Sunday 15th from 12.30 until 17.30
Sunday 15th from 22.15 until 04.15 on Monday 16th
Monday 16th from 13.00 until 17.30
Tuesday 17th from 02.00 until 03.30
These timings are all approximate.
The reason for the closures is because the contractors will be laying large anchor wires and hawsers across the river as part of their operation.
During the periods of daytime closure harbour staff will be on patrol downriver to warn any vessels leaving whilst the contractors will be supplying patrol vessels at the river entrance.
The Harbour Master’s advice is that no vessel should attempt to leave or enter the river at any time during the operation. There will be low spring tides at times whilst the river is open and this is an additional hazard.
Sun HW 00.35 & 13.12 LW 06.53& 19.15 Mon HW 01.26 and 14.11, LW 07.37 & 19.59 Tues HW 02.21
The contractors may change the times of opening and closing the river for operational reasons and this should also be taken into account.
A detailed account of the operation is held at the Harbour Office.
Further details of the full Solent Crossing works can be found on ABP Ports Southampton Notice to Mariners No 71 (T) of 2014.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this closure.
