Not sure why he's against using these or the smaller ones if thats what they are deigned for and he sells them! It's better than trying to bodge up two cables into one at the back of the panel surely.

As a member of the Sunstore team I apologize for the lack of clarity regarding this installation.
The problem initially stems from not knowing the type of cable entry being used.
As installers we tend to use a single entry point with a bonded cover. Using one cable makes installation easier at point of entry and for cable routing though the cabin. It also increases cable integrity.
Using 2 separate cables can mean using 2 separate entry glands which is not always desirable.
If the cable entry system chosen has 2 points of contact then keeping the cables separate on deck and using MC4 Connectors would be the easiest option. On boats however we prefer to solder connections where possible, for a more secure and long lasting joint.
