Deck Paint

Will this one took a turn!

@ducked are you seriously considering tarmacing your deck? Or just being a contrarian?
You could go a step further like our local council & just chuck a bag of hardcore down each year, over the next months, foot traffic on the deck will compress it to a workable surface!

Bitumen paint dries to a hard film. It's not like tarmac at all. Not very attractive though in my opinion and easily wears off.
Rather a reasonable comment for this thread, surely?

While you are of course correct, id think if one adds sand or another particulate, it perhaps would become a bit more like asphalt (sp?) though I dunno if that would make it wear better.

As I said, Im mostly considering it because

(a) I have some
(b) Its quite cheap
(c) Most importantly, I THINK it should be easily removable with white spirit.

I was going to test it on the dinghy and bootstripe and maybe in the bilges (too dark?) first and probably leave the deck patchy for now, (which I can stand) but this thread has me quite tempted.

Just as well I dont have red washboards…

I've used bitumen paint on an old wooden boat. Horrible, messy stuff. But it soaks in to the timber and protects it.
It obviously won't do that on GRP.
