Has anyone attempted to replace the 'glass' in a Lewmar Ocean deck hatch (450 x 320 cut-out size) ? If so, any advice or tips, or should I just buy a new unit? (Everything works perfectly apart from the crazing :-( )
I was told recently that Brasso is very good for restoring Lexan; not sure how it will work on acrylic which is much softer of course.
I've just had the glass out of mine and put back in because of a leak. Not too difficult to do. Its only the sealant that holds it in place. I had to cut the existing sealant with a sharp blade to get the glass out. After you get the glass out you can start removing all the old sealant that is the part that took quite a while. I replaced the o-rings on the handles and I masked it off and then rebedded it back in with PU18 polyurethane sealant. So far so good and no leaks.
Ebay but you can get it at various other placesHi i got the same problem was going to use sikaflex, however where did you get the pu 18 from, we in & out of Troon for a wee while
