Hello everyone. I have a 23 year old sail boat. The deck was white some time ago. I ave read on this forum that using oxalic could clean the deck and bring it back to white. But my understanding is that it will be white but not glossy. Some say to wax others to avoid waxing. I am going to give a try to oxalic acid for the cleaning and then see if I may put some sort of polish with teflon. You comments would be appreceated. Thanks in advance for your replys.

I'd have though the last quality a boat's deck needs is gloss. You are going to walk up and down it in the wet at an angle while it's pitching and rolling. The oxalic acid works (but care while handling and make sure you was it off again) and then when it goes grubby... clean it again. Good luck

Has anyone thought of using the type of wax surfboarders use? This is totally non-slip in the wet - as you would expect if you've tried boarding!
Parts of the deck maybe have a non-slip coating anyway? and only the bits you don't normally walk on need a bit of protection from UV etc., ?

WARNING:

Any action that adds a POLISH to a deck will render you and your crew open to the greatest hazard. Please tell us you do not plan to do this.

Proprietary cleaners will bring some cheer back to a GRP deck; avoid using anything scouring since this will open the surface (if it is already in good condition) to crevice grime etc. And this includes strong bristled brushes - go gently!
