Decent value pocket flybridge

and BCU have it so genuine.

I looked at these back in 04/05 new and was impressed. Interior fit out is good and they have a useful extra 1/4 berth making 5 pemanent
£60k for an 05 boat with AD41s (rather than KAD32s) look value compared to what youd pay for a Sealine 330/F33/F34

I’ve worked on one and whilst they look more modern than an equivalent price Fair Prin Sealine etc the build quality was shocking , the task I had was to remove the brand new engine as the sump was smashed when the engine was fitted , the boat was then obviously PDI , sold through dealer network etc for it to leak oil all over the place .
Wouldn’t touch it .

Cheap for a reason, In this case likely to be due to cheap build quality, another lazy broker who can’t be ar*** to take the covers off and photograph the boat properly so you can see what the flybridge area is like, quite important when selling. If they can’t be bothered neither can I.

Looks a nice clean modern boat boat but cannot help wondering if the combination of short length lots of windage and outdrives are going to result in rather tippy ride.
Another reverse iceberg boat with nothing in the water to keep it stable and lots above water ensuring challenging close quarters handling, bit like the F33 and no mention of any bowthruster either so add 3K
Small flybridges similar to this from ages past even the Princess 315 with shafts had very very short production runs before they were dropped.
One for the more experienced boater ?

MBM Review.
Sealine F33......

"and a bow thruster will give inexperienced helmsman confidence in close quarters given the windage and sterndrive layout of the boat."

Hi,

If you do not look at it from a patriotic point of view, Galeon is able to sovereignly challenge other similar boats in quality and seaworthiness. Take a sea trip and you are convinced. Those vp 41 engines although old technology is perhaps the best (reliable) engine in the Volvo.

If you compare the weight, then the Galeon 33 is not a lightweight boat it weighs about 8100kg and a comfortable v-angle hull gives a soft riding and a good stability fly bridge in this whole class about +30 feet

I remember looking at them when new too. They have a showstopping flaw in the design IMO - the window line. In the saloon you can't see out when sitting. Why did they set them so high? Sounds a small thing, but completely unfixable retrospectively and would stop me buying one before even considering the other points raised here.

edit - maybe there is a retro fix - they've raised the seats on that one and maybe you can see out. Perhaps I saw an early one and they had moans/changed the design..........

You sure you are thinking of the galleon and not the Viki 32/34?

Been on both and agree 100% about the viki. The galleon has raised seating ala F33 etc and the window level is fine from my recvilevtion (I was seriously considering buying one new so spent a fair bit of time looking).

Bowthruster

Seems it has a bowthruster.

I wouldn't buy a small flybridge with outdrives but I guess it's a good F33 alternative.

Curious no mention in BoatsUK advert , perhaps a standard fit item and that is quite a substantial boat at 8000 kilos nearly twice the weight of the old Princess 315.
Could also do with some fiddle rails on those slippy work surfaces ?

We had a G 34 the successor I think to the G33 ^^^ as a neighbour for a while approx 2009 ?
Tbo it seemed ok from a build Q .
I did spend ( as you do with neighbours boats ) a significant amount of time looking at it .
I,am thinking
Skoda - would you buy one theses days ? Since a German from the VAG group waltzed in and raised the subject of quality ,to the dumbfounded looks on the faces of the Czechoslovakian management :)

So some things happened at the Polish Galean factory , somebody’s waltzed in .The newer stuff looks pretty good imho .

Neighbour and I did meet up by co- incidence @ Porqurolles and it was on the return leg a bit blowy ,
Out in a chop his G34 ( pocket FB wife n two kids under 10;) I noticed his boat keeping up with my SS Porto 35 —- SS being a sports cruiser , so picking up on NB,s point they go well .

How ever it seems as well as quality that’s been raised the direction of travel of style and marketing —- hmmm
That’s another subject - no coment
