Guys; The tfx xtreme cable has been recommended strongly to me for my Yanmar 1gm throttle. It is working off the Seaflex/morse single lever with a tight u bend to engine, and length of 7ft. Boat is a fully rebuilt Clinker 16FT.
Is the tfx xtreme soooo much better that the others are just not worth considering. There is no stock of this cable and size in UK atm and been on order for months.

Not sure such a short length justifies the extra expense especially on what would normally be in tension so more pull than push
when you say tight bends how tight do you mean?

Bent in a u, the cables would be 4-5 inches apart. I think the damaged cable that was on it was pretty standard and at least ten years old.

I have Teleflex 33C cables on my 1GM and they have lasted 30 years with no problems. I think the minimum bend radius is 6" which is about the worst bend on my arrangement. If you really can't route the cables with gentle bends then consult the manufacturers for an appropriate cable. Sometimes rotating the output direction of the control can give a better route. Some information here: Teleflex cables - page 14 has some information on minimum bend radius.

My gear cable serving my Ysm8 is so long it's has a double U bend. It's becoming stiff to operate and I can't understand why the previous owner seems to have fitted a cable length of about 5 metres when 3m would be enough.

That is excessively tight normally you would want 8” radius which even for the best specification cables however if a standard 33c cable lasted 10 years then unless you can increase bend radius then I would be tempted buy 2 and run the second in ready for a quick change

As others have said , suggest you fix the tight bend otherwise you will forever have cable problems. My standard 33c cables are nearly 30 years old and still good . Can you not reconfigure the cable attachment at the throttle leaver to avoid a 180 bend and get a much shorter cable??
