Decathlon Jackets

They had stopped selling them last summer when I was looking for one so I eventually bought the 500 (at an astonishing £80 or so) series. Fabulous jackets (unlike their terrible sailing boots) went to Faroes and back last year and coped very well using appropriate under layers. :encouragement: from me.

Musto, Gill and the rest are no better at keeping 'our' type of rain out.

Not the jacket but have the 900 salopettes and am very impressed. More durable and dryer than Gill or Musto.

The 2018 edition of the 900 series just became available again in Germany, and I received the smock and saloppetes on Monday by mail. They look well made, and I will test them in the Scottish spring end of March, so will know more thereafter.

Got a lightweight rain jacket last year for about £20 and that's been great and the wellies which are pretty good, got some 500 series saloppetes to try this year, the quality of their stuff is pretty good but best way to deal with a Scottish summer is am enclosed wheelhouse

Don't you mean end of July?

Has anyone tried one of the new Decathlon 900 jackets? Are they up to a Scottish summer?

I don't know about their sailing jackets, but I've a set of their camouflage (Solognac) kit - it's well made and kept me toastie warm outdoors in a Scottish winter, even during the recent cold spell.

Looks good as you would expect. I have done a lot of hard miles in my decathlon kit and it's always held up. They do a re proofing spray as well which is worth getting and giving a spray mid season to keep them working to their best.

My 3 yr old Decathlon 'Tribord' oilies are standing up well, they are a bit much for coastal cruising in any sane WX, but were surprisingly comfy in Norway in December.
When they wear out I will go straight to Decathlon again for the next set. I have had the big names and you are definitely paying for the label.

My Triboard jacket (Decathlon) is still in use after at least 5 years, bit faded (now a worrying shade of pink in places ) but my "go to" coat when its chilly and/or wet.

Another vote for the lightweight jacket, I bought one when we sailed south to Portugal and it was great.

So, back from Scotland, and I can report that I was very pleased with the new trousers and smock. Held up ver well to the cold (but not so wet) weather, comfortable to wear, and the padded knees and back of the trousers came in very useful. Would buy again.

Mine (Tribord 500) gave up the ghost and leaked at the seams after 9 years with no re-proofing and washing rarely.

I reckon they'd have lasted a bit longer if I'd cared for them.
