Anyone know whats happening about the entry chart, it all looks vaguely alarming on the east coast rivers site, what with the down load being disabled and all, I have read a couple of dodgy accounts of crossings this season and a couple of no problems, so what is happening, I was hoping to go up this weekend.

I don't believe it should be alarming at all as long as you follow all the standard advice. Buoy positions are all published. The 'dodgy' accounts I've read seem to have been by experienced locals who are likely to enter or leave outside the parameters of the standard advice because they know more than the rest of us and can push their luck with a degree of confidence.
I rarely get that way more than once a year, I always enter or leave after half-flood and never in strong onshore winds - stay on track between the buoys and it's really not a problem.

we went in 2 weeks ago no probs with the bouyage.
departed when the water reached the bottom ( normal time to leave ;)) Ramsholt Quay never less than .8m under our 2m draught & that was near the Red Can

Is that the trick, wait until the water reaches the bottom of the quay! what does that give you over chart datum?

Deben entrance

We had a no probs passage on a neap tide a few weeks back - I posted this on the East Coast River forum. We crossed on the flood 2 1/2 hours after LW. It really depends on your draft and when you want to get across - we did notice less water than expected on the West Knoll but nothing too alarming. More interesting was a shoal on approach to Felixtowe Ferry.
As has been said already use the bouyage and avoid strong Easterlies. PM if you would like more info.
