For my sins, I will be in and out of the entrance to the Deben during the evening of the 20th. and guess what? Low water around 1800!!!

The boat in use will only draw about 500mm but do I need to Know anything else?

Eastcoast Rivers have not issued up to date info so Here I am with begging bowl for local Knowledge.

Suggest a call to John White the HM at Felixstowe Ferry, just inside the entrance, always very helpful and if anyone will know the current state of the entrance he will.

His mobile 07803-476621.

The last time I delivered a yacht in to the River Deben I found the buoys at the entrance close to the Martello Tower 'seem' to be in the wrong place but have to be trusted. Woodbridge Haven and West Knoll are OK as they are outside the river proper.

The 'green one' was on the left and the 'red one' was on the right going up stream and no, I hadn't been drinking!

For anyone interested we have a talk at Woodbridge Cruising Club on Sunday 21st March at 1100 hrs on boat rigging etc by Mike Vester of Atlantic Rigging and John White is coming in at the end to give us the latest lowdown on the Deben Entrance.East Coasters will be most welcome to attend(and have a pint afterwards)

Can you tell us what he said on the forum, afterwards. I can't make the talk (but thanks for telling us about it) but the Deben is one possibility for the Easter cruise, so it would be good to know what the latest on the entrance is.

Trinity House had the West Knolls buoy moved a short distance in the last few days, it's now at 51deg 58'.409N, 001deg 23'.569E according to their NtM. Woodbridge Haven and Mid Knolls buoys have not been moved.
