Deben entrance without the bouys?

I am currently berthed on the Orwell but am considering a move to a swinging mooring on the Deben from the new year. I understand that the bouys at the entrance to the Deben have been removed for the winter, does this mean that the Deben is now 'out of bounds' until the Spring?

Don't see why it should. Use last hour of a rising tide in suitable weather using the various chartlets for data.

I took a boat into the Ore at the beginning of April before the buoys had been put in without issue.

I didn't think that the buoys in the Deben entrance were removed in the winter.
The buoys in the Ore are removed.

The buoys were recently removed from the entrance to the Ore but as far as I know the Deben ones remain on station through the winter.

The chartlets seem to have been removed from the 'East Coast Sailing' web page. Also the location of the bouys is no longer shown on the Navionics electronic charts. We sailed up the Deben a couple of times in the summer and had no problems but the channel does seem to be very narrow. Repeating this without the bouys would seem to be like sailing blind! Or could one just use a bearing on the most northerly Martello Tower?

Narrow track between them; keep them lined up exactly and watch out for your course sagging westwards, it's very steep there, tricky because it's usual to enter on the flood.

If you scroll down the News items on the Home page at the ECP website, under 25th July there is a tip from the HM for staying on the correct track.

I tried his tip a few times but it's pretty hard to see the transits and concentrating on finding them one day, I went off course and touched - calm day and rising tide but still it was an awkward moment. Hope we get some rolicking Easterlies this winter and the channel opens up.

I wonder if you are looking for the right transits - I found that the Mid Knoll buoy, only a couple of 100 yards away at most, and the dirty great Martello Tower beyond stand out quite well, I thought!!

transits are all very well but looking backwards to see if you are on the line between the two buoys works just as well and needs no more references than the ones you've just seen or are going to

You know that, and I know that, but some others do not, as they were the ones (quite a few, apparently) that the HM pulled off the bricks and caused him to issue the advice!

No, I'm out of date then; the ones I were using were something about a piece of wood and the third window from the left on the outside privy of the chippy. Or something. Hols knew what they were and pronounced it "easy peasy" but she is much more cleverer than me.
