Beware that the entrance has silted up significantly. I arrived at a time when I should have had access but the binos showed people walking.....
I reckon its about 2M higher than the chart suggests, if you go the best water is on the far east side of the channel - the transit works for this.
The photo in the Shell Channel pilot shows clear water when the breakwater is significantly dry, we had no access unlil the breakwater was awash.
If I'd arrived a little later when the silt had just covered I would surely had gone aground so I think I was lucky.
Having got in there, the welcome was lacking, and the area around the marina is a ghost town. And the facilities are rubbish.
So go there only if you must and beware the sand on the entrance.

It didn't help that I'd just come from Dieppe, never been there before and it was fabulous. I think I was the only brit boat there - a shame.

Now sat in St Peter port making the most of the free wifi.

When we were there on the mby cruise earlier this season, we were warned to stick close to the wall on approach, cos of the sand build up on the other side, and they were right! Bouncing up and down in the swell with a couple of feet underneath waiting to lock through was not pleasant.

Having said that, the town is only a 10min walk from the marina, and has fab restaurants.

Can totally agree. Just come back from the Sea Horse Rally, and every day we saw a boat aground. I have written to the Mayor!

These show the entrance at LW - as you can see there's now a dog leg. Hard to port on the way in and then once past the first bar go over to starboard to avoid the sand coming out from the port side by the end of the pier.

Agree with all of the above, but having got there the town is superb. SWMBO loves the shops, the cafes etc and the fish market at Trouville ( over the bridge ) is fantastic.

Glad to see that the fuel pump is now accepting cards. Trying to get service there before was always very slow.
