I bought an Amcor AMD7200 dehumidifier at the Irvine boat jumble yesterday. I had it running for six hours yesterday (main room, warm dry day) and it's been on for four hours today (slightly damp spare room, cool rainy day) and not one single drop has appeared in the reservoir.

Can I safely assume that I have been stung and take a quick trip to the dump with it?

can you see any re-charge points in the tubing in the back ? Usually covered in a plastic or rubber cap.

If so, it might be worth doing a recharge at the local garage for a £5 ?

Thanks. No sign of a recharge point, and I have now checked the water drains. The cooling matrix isn't getting cold, though, so it looks like a shortage of refrigerant or a dodgy compressor system (electrical or mechanical). Further investigation is hampered (if not prevented indefinitely) by security screws at the back.

I suspect that it's more trouble than the thing is worth to sort it out, though.

I hired one a few years ago which didn't yield a drop. It seemed to run ok, but on opening the plug the live and neutral were reversed, and the earth had been left dangling. No idea if it worked afterward re-wiring as it went straight back.
