Hi all,

Its finally getting to that time of year and subject to weather I will be heading out for the weekend on the 20th April for the first time this year.

My overall plan is to go from Tollesbury and head to Brightlingsea for the night and spend the day getting use to the boat etc. It's going to be a long day as I will need to leave Tollesbury around 8am so can anyone recommend somewhere to find a mooring/anchorage around lunch time? I was thinking about heading to Osea but will end up punching the tide all afternoon. I have quite low experience so nothing to difficult would be great.

In the meantime keep an eye out for me and come and say hello. Boats name is Flighty (Jaguar 27).

Cheers for now.

Karl

I was just going to say that - It is a good plan

Agree with all, Pyefleet is a great place to stay for the night.

There are some moorings available, but a few years back they wanted a tenner to stay the night. Not sure if this is still the case, but a lot of people sail beyond the moorings and drop the hook.

Have a great trip.

Thanks guys,

Sounds like a good idea. If I moor at Pyefleet is there a pub anywhere nearby or would I be better at Brightlingsea? I have a group of mates on board and I think they might be looking for a pub for the evening.

Roger - As long as there is still space I will be coming to Bradwell from July onwards once my current contract ends. Look forward to catching up over a beer.

Cheers Karl

There is no pub in Pyefleet - people go there to escape. The pontoons in Brightlingsea are not attached to the shore so you either need a dinghy or used the water taxi. See the harbour website for running times.

Look forward to seeing you in Bradwell.

Some years ago, so the pub may still not be there. The RSA had a weekend at Pyefleet, where we dinghied ashore to the Oyster Shed and then walked for a bit coming to a nice pub with good food, somewhere on Mersea Island. As there aren't too many roads it would be hard to get lost finding the pub. But you will need a dinghy

The pub is still there, it is called the Dog & Pheasant, it is on the main road, you can't miss it. There used to be a very pretty little barmaid, but she has gone now
