daNs and kilgrams

Looking up ropes, I find that some have a breaking strength shown in Kgs and some in daN. If, according to an online calculator, 1 daN = 1.019716 kilogram-force, can I say that a rope with a 2,000 daN breaking strength is the same as one with a B/S of 2,040 kilograms, more or less?

Yes.
If 1 kilo = 9.8 Newtons is not near enough, you probably want a bigger rope anyway.
1decaNewton = 10 Newtons of course.
