I just bought a Danbouy from the Port Solent Chandlers, (you know the one) for only £14.95, a job lot at a special price, but what I want to know is, 'what is the difference between this and the dearer ones also on sale?'

Durability? If you are talking about the ones with a cylindrical plastic float, the paper-thin plastic covering degrades quickly and flakes off leaving the crumbling polystyrene foam exposed. The more pricey ones are much more solid.

As a matter of interest what was the price of the more expensive one, if double or triple then you could buy 2/3 cheaper models for the price of the more expensive one.

When starting up with a new boat all savings allow for money to be spent on other items required.

I saw those the other day, they may be less durable - we snapped the shaft on one once - but at 14.95 they are about a quarter of the price of some of the others and a tenth of the price of the offshore racing ones so you can't go far wrong.

No Dan isnt getting his hands on this boat as often as he thinks he will, he can sail Drifter, Its for the contessa.

£69,was the dearer one, the one I bought £14.95 so I could buy lots of cheap ones for the same price, but I think it might have been a special job lot.
