Dammit

60Nm does seem a bit excessive for an M10 bolt, especially if it's one of the lower grades of steel. Also are you sure your torque wrench was definitely set to 60Nm, you should be able to get that to click with one hand, even with a short bar.

It was definitely set to 60Nm.
Whether it is still accurate after all these years is another thing.
There was decent resistance at first, then it went sproing and the thread stripped.

New alternator support bar only £44 so not the end of the world, I was expecting worse.
