Damaged radome in boatyard

Is there any reason why the casing cannot be repaired? Most plastics can be welded and made good with suitable fillers. A lot of car repairers regularly repair plastic car bumpers, why not take the casing to one and see what they can do.

Occasionally the housings alone come up on eBay. Typically these are dummy displays.
Could be worth phoning some of the resellers like Greenham Regis to see if they have any ex-dummy displays.

To the OP: who did you have the contract to remove the mast with? The marina or the rigger? Who did you pay (or will you not pay)?
The liability for the damage is with your contractual counterparty.

I have paid the marina to lift the boat out and store, and to remove the mast, so I believe they owe a duty of care to place/store it such that it isn't damaged.

RadiumRob,

the treatment you and your boat have had is appalling.

I once had a keel stepped mast lowered by a boatyard crane like a piledriver, damaging the teak cabin furniture, and I was daft enough to tolerate it.

There's no reason why you should, so A, small claims court, B, Name and shame them !

Glad that you seem to have found a replacement case. Which boatyard delivered this high quality service and exemplary attitude to customers? .........So that we can all avoid it like the plague in future!
Fair winds.

That's an idea.

I'm not keen on following legal route - only the lawyers tend to win, and Sybarite's (presumably tongue in cheek) suggestion brings Jarndyce and Jarndyce to mind. However, I would like the relevant party to accept responsibility without recourse to law.

No, not tongue in cheek. Just a way to avoid ping pong between the yard and the fitter. For the amount involved you would go through the small claims court where you don't need a solicitor. (If I have understood the UK procedure correctly.)

The matter should be relatively simple. When the yard accepted the mast into their custody, it should have been inspected for damage and any damage, noted and reported upon.

In any case, the OP must have the means of substantiating the condition of the radome when custody passed.
