As stated in saturdays Torquays Herald Express newspaper who reports on boats at anchor in Lyme and Tor Bays a certain Russian owned super yacht called i believe was Le Grand Bleur. At anchor because of substained damage but Brixham CG stated that the ship was tight lipped as to what the damage was.The article then went on to mention some Russian names and a certain billionaire who has been mentioned quite a bit about the recent radiation poision sarga.
I only briefly read the report. I would park it up near to the old Winfrith nuke power station bouy.

Le Grand Bleu has been a regular visitor to Barbados in recent years - a very impressive yacht for sure! And the toys on the aft deck are just as impressive - I remember seeing a 70' sailing yacht, and something that looked like a Sunseeker about 50', in the tender davits.....

I understand that she is owned by a chap who also owns a football team in England.

I hope that the damage is not severe.

Le Grande Bleu was the tender to Pelorus belonging to the owner of Chelsea FC, Roman Abramovich. And yes, I did say tender. It appears he's given her away to a friend now.

It's alright for some I suppose...

Le Grand Bleu sixth biggest yacht in the world, owned by Ambramovich, apparently, or at least was in 2004. Looks like it's the second biggest yacht that he owns, since he also owns the fifth biggest in the world...

The Russian billionaire that's been linked to the radiation scandal was Berezovsky, a different person altogether. I haven't heard Abramovitch's name in that context, but maybe I missed something?

Pelorus is 377', Le Grand Bleu 370', it seems.

Would've thought it would be pretty useful having one of these on either side of the globe...

Le Grande Bleu hoiks the toys around. Aside from the 70ft yacht and the 50 foot mb on deck there is a garage underneith containing all sorts of sailing dinghies motorboats and jetskis.

I hope that the damage is not severe.

Really?

YES REALLY!

I have no grudge against the owner, and I have admired his yacht when she was here - one serious vessel for sure.
I think she looks much nicer than (say) Octopus (who is also a frequent visitor here) which is owned (I think) by Paul Allen of Microsoft fame. Octopus is possibly the largest private yacht in the world - but no way is she the prettiest, far from it in fact, IMHO.

Times change...

Le Grand Bleu sixth biggest yacht in the world...

[/ QUOTE ] It's tough at the top in the superyacht league, apparently it's slipped down now to a lowly number 13 according to Yachtspotter!

Largest actually in service...

... is Prince Abdulaziz. Approx the size of a decent destroyer.

Re: Just wait...

They say that the enjoyment of a boat is in inverse proportion to its size.

Gosh the owner must be miserable....

John.
