The cheap and nasty FM radio on Jazzcat has died, so I've got a Kenwood DAB/DAB+ radio. The DAB antenna supplied is a stick on the window job and has an amplifier with it, which appears to be powered through the single antenna lead and has a ground tape than the instructions say needs to be stuck to the metal windscreen pillar. No mention of baring the metal or anything. Jazzcat is, of course, GRP, but has aluminium window frames. Can anyone tell me if sticking the ground to one will do the job, or do I need to run a lead to the battery -ve?

Supplementary question: the rather cryptic set up instructions talk about setting crossover type, which can be 2-way or 3-way. The only crossover I know of is in multi-speaker enclosures, and I haven't got anything so fancy. Can anyone enlighten me about this, please?

Thanks in advance

My new dab radio didn't come with an aerial so something else to buy. The aerial i got just required to be stuck onto a window and seems to have ground plane built in.
Have you tried yours before sticking the aerial down to see whether it works as is ?

As 'Boathook' suggests fit your radio and try it with the aerial in your hand and seek out the best position for reception. I fitted one of these in my old Beneteau First 35.. and the port/window I fitted it to was entirely perspex with no metal frame whatsoever. The reception was fine for the majority of the time..

Stand alone DAB /FM radio with old type telescopic aerial and cigar pug electrical input works for me, in Devon. Oddly the DAB is better than FM.
