D4 power trim gremlins!

Well it's been an interesting couple of days.

VP engineer arrived yesterday with, don't think it was a Vodia, was a box that plugged into engine and connected to a laptop.

After lots of tests a checks,it appeared that HCU was faulty. Engineer left and would come back today with spare HCU, to prove conclusivly.

He re checked wiring diagrams over night, and reckons the control lever push buttons are wired incorrectly and doesn't see how they could ever have worked, but they did. He has plugged an EVC power trim panel into HCU, and all works. So HCU OK, good news.

The proposal is to abandon push buttons on control lever and install power trim control panel. Sounds ok to me, will cost a bit, but less than HCU!

The new Vodia is a box that plugs into a laptop, the PDA ones a being phased out.

Just to close out this thread. Away on boat at the moment(in Yarmouth), so been able to check out the work done by VP engineer.

Pleased to report everything working well. New EVC power trim panel in excellent. Why the old lever mounted controls wre deemed incorrect beats me. But there we go! Just pleased not to need a new HCU.

Haven't had the bill yet, so don't know final cost.
