Who knows whats occuring in the Solent this weekend regarding D-Day memorial. I believe Sandown airport has something going on B17, spits, Hurricanes and the like. Be nice to be out there to say thanks. Stuff the football, remember the real heros 60 years ago!!

For those up and around early enough (ie. not me) - there is the convoy setting off from Portsmouth on Saturday morning. See the Notice to Mariners.

Shame on you.
It would be super to give them a send off. I'm sure there will be many spectator boats out. I certainly would be if we were based in the Solent.

Planning (Alcohol consumption the night before not withstanding!) to be there to watch this. Probably hang around outside Portsmouth Harbour.

I'm stuck with a friday conference call that shows all signs of running until 5pm PDT/1am BST (hence the delayed start the following morning). What joy.

Quite right.
Have belonged to a club at Sonning (nr. Reading) for many years and have been on the mooring waiting list for about 15 years. Having decided that our current boat was never going to fit onto the moorings they went and rebuilt the moorings with bigger gaps to accommodate a few larger boats. So when we were offered one it seemed churlish to turn it down.
We do still enjoy the river although now have the wrong boat. The social side is nice too.
The intention is to move the boat each year, for about 3 months, to different areas. Brittany, Channel Islands, Holland and West Country. Get a bit of variety.
