I was recently in The Czech Republic and saw the Rivers Elbe and Vlatava but saw no motor/leisure boats. I asked a local if there was any marina's or chandleries - he said 'no'. Is this true? Does anyone know of anything interesting about motor boating in the Czech Republic?

I wondered the same last time I was in Prague - the Vitava isn't the most attractive river, but it looked quite boatable and deep enough judging by some of the commercial boats I saw moored. Seems to be an area they have yet to exploit.

I don't know about the Czech Republic , in Russia there are very few marinas, fuel is delivered by a lorry or from barrels and you carry a fuel pump with you, power is not easily available but sometimes, a friendly man will let you hook up to his power supply, IE domestic in his house.[more adaptors] and water was collected by trowing a bilge pump over the side in a deep part of there inland fresh water lakes and pumping directly into your tanks, then sterilised for drinking or boiled for cooking.
There is a large lake near Moscow that is man made and the C,Map charts show quite a few obstructions in certain areas , that I was told are church spire or the towers of tall buildings.
I found it fascinating, I was training and helping a Russian to equip his boat for delivery to Russia .
