Good evening. The Sail drive I refer to is a 2019 Volvo Penta 130S-D sail drive working with a D1-30 Volvo Penta engine on a Bavaria 37 Cruiser.
Recently I was snorkelling under the boat to check for any problems / growth etc. I discovered that the split anode on the sail drive was no longer there (having been installed in October of this year 2021) I reakon it feel off quite quickly due to bad installation and I have only been able to snorkel now due to water temp etc.
When I found this problem I noticed that there is a free moving, what appears to be aluminium cylinder on the shaft between where the anode should be and the prop. I have tried to find information on this piece as I am not sure that it is supposed to be there and if it is what is its purpose. If anyone can shine a light on this the information would be greatly appreciated. Regarding the anode I was down today with a new anode that had been sent to me from the boat year and it turns out its not the right fit (not original part as I had ordered !!!!) but that's another story.
I have attached some photos of the sail drive that I happened to take during dry dock.
Many thanks
Denis

Good evening VicS. Quick and effective reply, thanks a million. I was looking at the diagram but had not seen clearly this (Nº34) piece. I guess this part is in the right place. Do you know if this piece should have much play in it? (forward - aft, diameter clearance with shaft)
Again, many thanks for reply
Denis
