Just to bring this to people attention.
replacing my cutlass ,
i notices that both grub screw was missing , so I expected the using two screw drive on the of the top hat for it just to pop out .
two hours later I decided it just wasn’t going to work .
so I went about removing the shaft and then using a hexsew blade to cut the cutlass bearing in bits .
outcome .
someone must had damage the grub screws thread and drilled in two studs in another place.
give then due they grinding them in so well you couldn’t see where there where put in , even after I found them clearing around the out side other then a tiny spot you wouldn’t known anything untoward.
it would had be much easier to tap and put bigger grub screw in then to drill through the SS Stern tube , put the studs in and the made good by grinding the ends off .
if anyone has the same problem getting out a cutlass bearing ,
keep this in mind .
