Credit where credit is due - Mike Gates and MDL's UK MD have been extremely helpful in resolving an issue that I had with them. Not fair to publish details but suffice it to say that if MDL had insisted they could have stuck to the letter of the contract I had with them and I would have been a four figure number worse off!

Customer service at it's best in my view

Shame a certain staff member at port Hamble didnt follow in his MDs footsteps, a right arrogant little hitler, all over the mooring of my rib.

SQ

Always found the staff at Shamrock Quay (MDL) very nice and helpful.
Always one or 2 rotten apples I expect, even in MDL's barrel.

good post,

we should honour the good boy's and make foc publicity for them on here,

this will encourage some others to do better !

Sparkes Marina - the worst yet.

Sorry to be controversial but i was recently in Sparkes after staying in both Brixham and Mayflower (all MDL marina's)

Sparkes was the same price but i was very dissapointed with both the customer service and the marina in general.

Im my mind MDL have some of the best kept and most friendly marina's on the south coast, however sparkes was a complete let down, from dodgy pontoons (which i put my foot through) to bad organisation (boats bottoming out on the mud and left at a stupid angle)

We were directed to a berth over the VHF, which had a RIB in it, so i had to spin her around in what is very close quaters, a member of staff appeared to say that there was a change of plan (thanks for telling me) so we would have to wait for 10 mins in a vacant spot.

1hr later no word, so i made use of the water and electric, at that point the owner of the berth returned looking fairly peeved (rightly so).

I was overcharged twice! they didnt add my points on to our cruising club card, the washing machine (1 x house hold machine between a whole marina) was not working. The toilet and shower facilities were ok, nothing more nothing less.

Over a weeks stay we were moved 3 times, while there was an empty berth opposite for the whole time which on departure i was told i could have used.

All of the above for over 32 quid a night?!?
We both left the marina with a bitter taste in our mouths.

For the price you get 10 times more value for money else where, so a visitors mooring was the prefered option to sparkes!

Just my 2 cents.
