Anyone found a comfortable arrangement for sitting on top of a fairly narrow cockpit coaming top? ... fixed solution or cushions ... some way of fixing so they don't disappear overboard if you stand up for a bit or nip down below? ... Any suggestions?

I've often heard suggestions of a reasonable sized seat based on a ply pad with battens underneath spaced to suit the object it is to straddle, a coaming or the comapanionway, for example. It would still need to be padded and I think the suggestion of a gardener's kneeling pad is an excellent idea!

I also made a removeable seat to straddle the coaming, but didn't bother with a cushion - but I probably would nowadays! Mine was a nice snug fit so would have needed a lot of effort to dislodge. But if an easy fit would need a lanyard to clip to the guard rails

The kneeling pads are good as is foam used for thin mattress for hiking. (about 7mm thick)
The real problem is to fix it. A clost cover is nice and then you attach strings to hold it down or velcro. But you still have to make a fixing on the hull. So no, no easy answer olewill

Fixing firmly in position would be a pain, requiring attachments and possibly other modifications. I was only thinking of a lanyard to the guardwire so it doesn't go overboard - in use your weight should keep it in place.
