All bonding is independant of wiring that carries current (although of course there is continuity via the blocks and the main starter earth leads and others). I.e. I could remove all bonding wiring and all other systems on the boat would remain complete and working.
I'm fairly sure there id no way the bonding can be carrying current.
Having fixed the engine bonding, she's going back in with shaft anodes too.
I'll go for a weekly swim under to visually check on things, if problems persist I'll invest in a silver chloride reference cell (albeit I'll have to work out how to use it and interpret the results).

The reason I ask is that at least two of the newest gearboxes out in the wild have insulation issues!
Try checking the resistance between your shaft and an earth point, then putting the engine in gear. My money is on the difference being quite noticeable. As the gears engage and disengage, the nett amount of protection changes markedly. One of my customers' powerboats had exactly the same problem and a pair of shaft-brushes saved him from buying a second pair of 24" props from me!

Thanks, I just read that page, I am absolutely certain that there is no connection of live to the bonding in the boat. I will double check that again tomorrow before we launch.
I hope that I have fixed it with the bonding.
