Which gives me the opportunity to comment on "Finding Einstein" (which I've been given). There was an overtly pedantic end-note discussion of "flaked" versus "faked". Against which the Turkish town is only rarely correctly spelled "Fethiye" but mostly spelled "Fethye". As I have been there a number of times it just looks wrong...

I've only ever come across it spelt 'Fethiye', although it is pronounced 'Fet-yay'. It's named in honour of Yüzbaşı Fethi Bey, one of the first pilots of the Ottoman Air Force, killed in 1914. Interestingly (well, interestingly to me, anyway) Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is also named after a pilot, in this case Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's adopted daughter and the first female fighter pilot ever, anywhere.

The pedantry throughout the book is intended to convey a gentle, self-mocking air. What we need is a font called 'ironics'.

Spelling-checkers that you can teach the correct spelling of proper names are really useful...
