Crossing Netherlands to Uk

We spent a few days on a staging at the south west corner of the dam. The area is Vrouwenpolder. Good shelter and nearby beach bar and a good fast food fish cafe / takeaway. Look on Google maps for Lekerbeck. There is a water tap and basic wc. It's a bit further than Veere but I think it's worth the trip. There is a supermarket about 1/2 hrs walk away.
There are plenty of other free pontoons but few with any facilities.

Middleburg would be my choice. Only 1 more lock & it should open regularly. Plus a meal in the club & showers are passable. Town centre is interesting.
If you really want to see Veere hire an electric bike & have a nice trip along the canal. But do not forget to climb up the tower. I NEVER let a crew miss that if passing through. It is standard punishment since 1972. Veere was tidal in those days which made the Veerse Meer more fun :(

Isn't Lekerbeck a fish--- like Kiberling? Or am I mistaken?
Anything south of Veere would be in the Walcheran canal. That means Middleburg.

You may be right, we stayed on the pontoon for 2 nights in May and no one bothered us .
November now so probably won't be bothered but if we are we can always anchor over the other side .
What we didnt see last time we was there was a bakery or a supermarket .
Do anyone know any thing different?
According to Google maps there is a bakery, at least part time, but I haven’t tried it

If you don't need provisions or restaurants and like nature, don't go into Veere itself. Tie up to one of the little jetties which abound on the islands in the Versemeer. Perfect peace, birdwatching, vast empty skies. And, this time of year, probably free as well...

Yep the pontoon next to veere on the meer we be heading for just by the village.
But I doubt there be many women to look at , maybe the odd tourist but there be well covered up , no skimpy bikini chicks around ,
Although we did see one women swimming yesterday.
I have to be careful my partner don't catch me looking :)

Lovely beautiful and quiet night last night on Hellegat once the barges stop , just a gently rock to remand us we on the water,
But it's colddddd and damp, for sure it's not what we use to this time a year sailing in the Med.
Last day of moving , Sunday it's a day of wind and rain so we stay put in Veere .
there a weather window slowly opening up for a crossing end of next week .

Yes. Next Thursday/Friday looks like an opening window for you.
In the meantime, get those mittens and bobble hats out and tune in FreeSat. I still have hopes for a sail next week in the shimmering seas of the East Coast.

Just for them sitting in a nice centre heated home , can we join you ? :)
We ended up on the pontoon at Veere on the lake well sheltered from the SSW wind that's been blowing 30 KTS and non stop rain .
Weather window looking ok for the of the end of this coming week ( keep your fingers cross everyone ) so we got a very days to kill .
To morrow don't look much better with rain forecaster for most of the day ,
if there a break we may head to Middelburg and take a berth to get some electric to get some heating .
If not we go on Tuesday when there dryer weather forecaster.
Also to do some shopping and prepare the boat for the crossing .
We also pass Middelburg on the way up so we can explore the town a bit , maybe have a meal out which we not done for a while.

Second half of the week looks more promising, but you will have noticed that the wind is expected to move souteast and become very light. Fog also possible. Still some days ahead though, so not yet 100%

Yes it's the fog that may cause some concern ,
Even thought we have radar and a AIS reciver on board fog is my pet hate especially at night and most of the crossing will be done in darkness .
Thanks for the suggestion where to find a bakery in Veere but it looks like it's no longer there .
A very wet raining day yesterday on the pontoon and don't look much better today so look like we will stay put to day ,
No need to rush with just three bridges and two locks to go.

Only 1 lock / bridge at Veere, but 5 bridges between Middelburg and Vlissingen. In summer they operate the "Blue Wave" convoy system but probably not at this time of year.
By the way 1st / 8th November is the anniversary of Operation Infatuate, the battle to take Walcheren Island in 1944. Spare a thought for those brave lads. It must have been hell.

My Dutch colleague used to order spaghetti carbonara as the best test of a cook, even though it wasn’t his favourite food. I had one in the middle of Middleberg and it was particularly good, so maybe it’s a Dutch thing.

Your forgotten the lock at Vlissingen:)

What we looking for more then anything is long shower .
To use the boat one just make more condensation in the boat .
