Hi all, I had mentioned previously we'll be in Split / Dubrovnik in early October. Looking on the likes of clickandboat.com there are RIB's available in boat locations at reasonable rates (€300 - €400 per day, bareboat).

I know plenty here are familar with the areas.... if you were to charter a RIB in only one of the locations, which would you choose and why?

Thanks all for any advise offered!

Both awesome. I would do Dubrovnik because the town is stunning and the strip of islands ( Elaphiti islands) that starts by Dubronnik and stretches a few miles north is a beautiful place to take a RIB. 100 places to anchor. Worth getting as far as Okuklje on Mljet if the RIB has long legs.

I'm going there in a couple of weeks time :)

Eldest son just arrived in Croatia today with caravan and boat, his family fly out tomorrow to meet up with him, not sure where he is going this year, the photos he sends back are of some stunning scenes out on the water.

It’s very beautiful. Some cultural challenges remain, eg with service and welcoming tourists, but overall it’s our favourite boating destination.

@BartW of this parish used to go to Croatia with his boat and tow it from Belgium, hopefully we will get a chance to go there next year with our own boat too.
Yes, Bart posted pics / blog here.... always enjoyed reading them. He towed the boat quite an impressive amount of miles around Europe.

J, thanks as always for the info, appreciated.

Are you going by boat?
Not going by boat because I don't have a boat this season:oops:. I've chartered a brand new Cranchi Settantotto called m/y Victoria for 9 day trip. Starting Split, heading down to Dubrovnik. Should be nice I hope.

That makes sense (I must have been asleep yesterday... i'm following your thread!!)

We'll be doing Split - Dubrovnik but not in quite the same style as you.... we're taking the Catamaran. We'd actually love to charter something bigger down there, but only yesterday we forked out silly money for J-Class seats DUB-BKK for our annual SE Asia getaway.... we'll be eating bread and sardines down in Croatia!!

If he's in Split in October, tell him to pick me up!! Looks lovely, they'll have a blast.
He is just home.
They were going to spend more time there but the weather turned, he got to Austria and hit a hail storm, car and caravan both damaged, the roof and bonnet of his car is all dimples and the windows are smashed in on the caravan.

The kids said they had a great time there and were out on their little boat a lot, hopping up and down the coast going from quayside restaurant to quayside restaurant :)

Sounds great, apart from the caravan / car issues in Austria.

We are looking forward to our Croatia trip - we've actually never been to Croatia. Going to do some touristy things (we are tourists after all!) and found some great Facebook groups so may get a direct contact for RIB charter in Dubrovnik.

Hi N, I missed this threat,
you will have a very nice trip from Split to Dubrovnik, hopefully you will have good weather, bcs in oktober this can be hit and miss..
both regions have their sharmes, but for me the traject that you have planned is the nicest from the whole adriatic coast,
don't know for rib rentals in Split,
In Cavtat you can rent a small boat, with 100...150Hp outboard from Epidaurus watersport center
if you want I PM you the phone numer from my friend Boris in Cavtat, if you refer to me, he will give you a discount.
Ribs are rather scares in that region, there might be one or more available in Dubrovnik Gruz, but no personal contact there.

Hi B,
Thank you very much for the information.

No problem if RIB's are scarce - any day boat would do fine... we just want to get on the water!!

I would very much appreciate a name / number / email etc. via PM for someone whom I can rent a boat off in Dubrovnik / Cavatat!
